The Fallen

HUGE STATE, HUGE SACRIFICE – Texas, an enormously patriotic state, has provided a huge number of service members to serve in the Global War on Terror and Overseas Contingency Operations.  Many Texas men and women have deployed multiple times, accumulating years away from their loved ones.  This has made a challenging and substantial impact on thousands of Texas families.  Texas Veteran’s Commission has indicated that over 225,000 service members from Texas have deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.

Many of these service members came home as Wounded Warriors, forever changed in their abilities and lifestyles.  They courageously struggle each day to recover and cope with their injuries.  There are over 6800* fallen US service members from these deployments.  Approximately 10% of these lives lost are Texans.

It is for this very reason that our service members today have more combat time than at any other time in our nation’s history.  Honor the service and sacrifice by our great Texas Veterans and their Families by taking action and raising funds to support building the monument at the Texas Capitol.  The time is now to remember and honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice as well as those who served and the families who served and sacrificed along with their service members.
